Weapons Tier List

Combat in The CAT is lopsided on purpose. Caretakers spawn with a security kit. Cats spawn with a morph, a pickpocket, and an attack-break. Guns enter the picture when someone spends Robux, when a Director grants a weapon, or when a cat steals what security dropped. This list ranks tools that change a chase, not every prop in the shelter.

Read it with the caretaker guide, the gamepass ranking, and the caretaker role page. A letter here is not a skin review. It is an answer to: if this item is in the round, who is favored?

S — Taser (free)

The taser is the core free weapon. It is the reason a caretaker without a gamepass can still end a breakout. Land the stun, follow with Arrest Cat, walk the cat to jail. Everything else on the security side is a modifier around that loop.

S does not mean it wins every 1v1 against a Golden AK. S means you should master it before you buy anything. Players who skip the taser and main a paid rifle still lose cats in doorways because they never learned the arrest timing. Shift-sprint into range, stun, cuff. That sentence is the job.

If you are new on the security side, ignore the store for one hour and only use taser, Arrest Cat, baton, and shotgun. You will understand why the paid guns are expensive: they skip the part of the kit that actually scores the recapture.

A — Arrest Cat, baton, and shotgun (free)

Arrest Cat is not a gun, but it is the scoring tool. A stun that does not become an arrest is a delay, not a win. Keep Arrest Cat on a hotkey. Use it the moment the taser lands, not after the cat recovers and dives a toilet.

The baton is the close-range backup when you do not want to spend a taser shot or when you are already in a melee scramble at a cage. The shotgun is the free “get off me” gun for doorways, sewer mouths, and feral rushes. Together they sit in A: they are always available, they win fights that the taser cannot finish, and they do not require 149 R$.

They are not S because they do not replace the stun-arrest loop. A caretaker who only shotgun-sprays will down cats and still fail to jail them. Recapture is the objective, not a kill feed.

A — Tranquilizer versus taser

Elite Cat Surgeon (299 R$) publishes a tranquilizer and +150 HP. Treat the dart as an A-rank paid stun with a different identity from the free taser. Players report that it plays like a longer, meaner disable. This wiki will not invent extra stats that the pass page does not list.

Use the comparison like this: taser is the default you must know; tranquilizer is the pass that makes you harder to rush while you still do the same job — stop a cat, then arrest. If you already struggle with Arrest Cat timing, the dart will not save you. Buy Surgeon for the HP and the dart after the free loop is clean, not before.

A / B — Paid rifles: AWM, HMG, M4A1, Golden AK

These four are the pay-to-win gun line. Prices and published perks:

  • AWM — 149 R$. Long-range pick, listed as a pass gun.
  • HMG — 149 R$. The pass text calls it the heaviest gun in the game.
  • M4A1 — comes with Elite SWAT (249 R$), alongside a shield listed at 200 HP and +40% HP.
  • Golden AK — Boss Mafia Cat (299 R$), accessed at the feral cats base, with +60 HP on the mafia armour.

In a pure gunfight they sit at A. They delete cats who peek sewers and they punish ferals in the city. They drop to B if you bought them instead of learning Arrest Cat, because a rifle that does not convert into a jail is just noise. Director (549 R$) can grant weapons to vets, which means a lobby can be flooded with rifles even if you personally own none of the passes.

Cats should treat a paid rifle as a reason to stop dueling in hallways. Go around. Break a toilet. Steal a card from a different caretaker. Do not ego-challenge an HMG in a straight corridor.

B — Stolen guns and the hairball (cat)

Cats are not unarmed. The game page itself lists stealing weapons and keycards. A stolen gun is B: high impact, awkward handling, and you still have to escape while holding it. Use it to force a caretaker off a cage or to cover a teammate’s sewer run, then leave. Standing in the lobby spraying is how stolen guns get you recaptured.

The hairball is the cat-native projectile players actually use between steals. Treat it as B utility: it pokes, it breaks rhythm, it is not a shotgun. Player-reported uses include interrupting a taser wind-up and tagging a camper before you commit to a toilet. We mark extra hairball tricks as player-reported rather than as official damage tables.

After you escape, the city is a different loadout. Ferals with a Golden AK from the mafia base are no longer the same animal that spawned in a cage. That is a pass interaction, ranked on the gamepass list, not a free cat spawn.

C — Everything you bought for the screenshot

If a tool does not stun, arrest, open a door, or win a chase, it is C at best on this page. Cosmetic hats do not belong here. Unpublished passes (Premium, El Gato) are omitted from combat ranks because this wiki does not invent unpublished perks.

Loadout advice by side

Caretaker, free: taser, Arrest Cat, baton, shotgun. Sprint with Shift. Hold the safety zone, then hunt.

Caretaker, paid: add one rifle or Surgeon, not a full shopping cart, until you can jail cats without the extra gun.

Cat: hairball and pickpocket first, stolen gun second, city loot after the exit. Your real “weapon” is still the toilet and the card, ranked on escape routes.

Director lobby: assume rifles are in play even if the store UI is closed. Play corners.

For the role loop around these tools, stay on the caretaker role page and the caretaker guide.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for The CAT on Roblox.

What is the best free weapon for caretakers?

The taser. It is the S-rank core of the stun-then-arrest loop. Shotgun and baton support it; they do not replace it.

Is the tranquilizer better than the taser?

It is a paid A-rank alternative from Elite Cat Surgeon, with +150 HP on the pass. Learn the free taser first, then buy the dart if you want the extra health and disable.

Do cats get guns?

Yes. Steal them, then treat stolen guns as B: useful for a window, dangerous if you linger. Hairball is the native poke.

Should I buy the HMG or the AWM first?

Both are 149 R$ pass guns. Buy neither until Arrest Cat is clean. Then pick HMG for weight in doorways or AWM if you like long peeks.

Does Director change this list?

Yes. Director can grant weapons to vets, so a server may be full of rifles without everyone owning AWM, HMG, or SWAT.
