How to escape The CAT
Five breakout methods, ranked by mechanical difficulty and how hard vets make them on a full server.
Escaping The CAT is the core loop of The Cat Shelter. You are a cat inside Ikigai Cybercore Studios’ Roblox shelter. Caretakers (vets and guards) tase, arrest, and jail. A successful leave does not end the session; you become a feral cat in the city. This page is only the breakout itself. For the hour before you try a door, use Getting Started. For life after the UI says you made it, use feral city. For a compact ranking without walkthrough prose, use the escape-route tier list. Tick boxes live on the escape checklist.
There is no single “easy” exit on a 26-player server. Mechanical ease and survival chance pull in opposite directions. The toilet drop is simple and heavily camped. A stolen keycard opens a cleaner path and paints a target on whoever holds it. Tunnels ask you to find a dig spot. Angel morph is a rare skip. Cage rescue is a group project. Pick the method that matches the lobby in front of you, not the one a video used on an empty server.
Difficulty ranking at a glance
Treat this as a field ranking, not a patch-proof table. The CAT launched on 28 April 2026 and still moves rooms around.
Toilet to sewers is the lowest mechanical difficulty and the highest camp risk. Anyone who can find the toilet and press cat attack can drop. Vets know this. If the pipes are quiet, take it. If you hear footsteps under the floor, abort.
Pickpocket keycard is medium. You must get behind a caretaker, click or spam the steal, and leave their view before the taser lands. After the steal, the card itself is the problem.
Diggable walls and secret tunnels are medium-high. You need the spot, the time to dig, and a patrol gap. Safer when the lobby is hunting cards and toilets instead of walls.
Group rescue of caged cats is high coordination. It is the method that scales with friends and with ferals already outside. Solo players should not open with it.
Rare Angel cat morph is low personal skill and high rarity. If the morph lets you jump out, do it immediately. Do not save the jump for a cinematic. You will not farm this on demand.
Method 1: pickpocket a keycard
Stand behind a caretaker who is busy looking at someone else. Click or spam the pickpocket interact. You are stealing the card off their kit, not looting a desk. If they turn, you eat a taser, then Arrest Cat, then jail.
Holding a card paints a target. Other caretakers see you as the current problem. Do not celebrate in the main hall. Pocket the card, break line of sight, and move toward the door that actually wants the card. If a teammate is cleaner at movement than you are, handing the card off can be smarter than ego-carrying it.
Spins or gacha can also roll a keycard. That is luck. Use it if it drops. Do not idle on a spinner while vets clear the room. A rolled card paints you the same way a stolen card does.
Keycard routes fail when you treat the steal as the escape. The steal is the start of a hunt. Plan the ten seconds after the prompt succeeds, not only the animation of the steal.
Method 2: break the toilet and drop to the sewers
Go to the toilet. Use cat attack. Break the toilet. Drop. Follow the sewers out. You do not need a keycard for this leave. That is why new cats love it and why experienced vets live in the pipes.
Cat attack is the same offensive input you might waste on a caretaker’s ankles. Save it for geometry that matters. If attack does nothing on the toilet, you are on the wrong fixture or the wrong bind — check controls before you assume the route was patched out.
Sewer camping is the counter. Caretakers with tasers, batons, or shotguns wait at the drop and the exit. Elite loadouts make that camp nastier, but a free taser is enough. If you land on three vets, you did not fail the break; you failed the scouting. Peek, listen, and only commit when the pipe is empty or a teammate is already drawing fire elsewhere.
This route is still correct when the lobby is obsessed with cards. Vets who all chase a painted cat leave the toilet. That is the window.
Method 3: diggable walls and secret tunnels
The shelter includes walls you can dig and tunnels with secrets along the way. These are slower than a toilet smash and quieter than a painted card if you found the tile before a caretaker did. Spend a scouting life walking edges, corners, and rooms that look unfinished. Digging in the open is a broadcast.
Tunnels fail when you start the dig as a crowd event. One cat scratching a wall is a curiosity. Four cats scratching the same wall is a caretaker waypoint. If a dig is already public, switch to a different method instead of stacking bodies on a known hole.
Because tunnel tiles can move in updates, confirm a spot in the current session. Patch notes are the place to check if a community favorite hole died last week. This page will not freeze a tile that the studio can relocate.
Method 4: rare Angel cat morph
Some sessions grant an Angel cat morph that can jump out of the shelter. It is rare. It is not a loadout you buy. If you have it, the jump is the route. Do not wander looking for a “better” cinematic angle. Caretakers will still tase an angel that waits.
If you do not have the morph, ignore every thumbnail that pretends this is the default tutorial. Teach pickpocket and toilet first. Angel is a bonus skip, not the syllabus.
Method 5: group rescue of caged cats
Cages are not just flavor. Cats locked in them need a rescue, and escaped cats can help cats still inside. A coordinated breakout beats a solo dash when enough ferals loop back from the city or enough in-shelter cats hit the same lock at once.
This method is how The CAT becomes a team game instead of twenty-six people speedrunning a toilet. It is also how you throw a lobby if you stand in front of a cage without a plan and wait for a vet to tase the pile. Assign who draws the caretaker, who opens, and who runs. If you have no voice and no chat discipline, pick a solo route instead.
After you are out, helping caged cats is still on the table. That loop is documented on feral city and on the cat role page. Escape is permission to come back as a problem, not permission to forget the building.
Choose by lobby, not by ego
Empty server: toilet is fine, then learn a card steal for when it is not. Medium server: steal when a vet is busy, toilet when the card is painted on someone else. Full 26-player server: assume sewers are camped, assume a card makes you famous, and look at tunnels or a coordinated cage hit.
Hairballs can distract. Climbable geometry can skip a sightline. Neither replaces a method. Sprint with Shift (player-reported) only after you know where you are sprinting. Wanted points are a city problem after you leave, reported by players, not a shelter score you should optimize during the breakout.
One video mentions lives. Unverified. Do not abort a good tunnel because a creator shouted a life count we cannot see on every HUD.
If you keep failing the same method, switch methods before you switch games. The CAT is not Catch the Cat and not the Alpha horror title. The shelter is designed around these five exits. Learn two of them well, keep a third in your pocket, and treat Angel as a gift. Then go survive the street — that is a different guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for The CAT on Roblox.
What is the easiest way to escape The CAT?
Breaking the toilet and dropping into the sewers is the simplest input, but vets camp it. On a full server a pickpocket keycard or a quiet tunnel is often safer. Rankings are on the escape-route tier list.
How do I pickpocket a keycard?
Get behind a caretaker and click or spam the steal. Leave their view immediately. Holding the card paints a target, so do not sprint the main hall with it.
Can I leave without a keycard?
Yes. Cat attack on the toilet opens a sewer drop. Diggable walls and some tunnels also skip the card. The Angel morph jump is a rare no-card skip.
Do escaped cats still help cats in cages?
Yes. Group rescue is a real method, and ferals outside can loop back. See feral city and the cat role page for the after-escape version of that job.
Should I wait for the Angel cat morph?
No. Angel is rare. Learn toilet, pickpocket, and tunnels first. If you roll the morph, jump out at once.
What should I do the moment I escape?
You are a feral cat in the city, still hunt-able. Open feral city and use the escape checklist before the next queue.
