The CAT is an asymmetric roleplay sandbox, not a hero roster. You do not unlock a character tree. You pick a side, morph or kit up, and play against the other side on a 26-player server. Both sides are free. The only paid gate that regularly decides whether you get your pick is Bypass Team Limit.

Two free sides, one argument about names
Community chat uses cat on one side and caretaker, vet, or guard on the other. This wiki treats those security labels as the same team unless a patch publishes a split. We will not invent a three-team mode. If you join “vet” and your friend joins “caretaker” and you both have tasers and Arrest Cat, you are on the same job: keep cats in the shelter and recapture ferals who already left.
Cats tease, steal, break, and run. Caretakers annoy, stun, arrest, and hunt. The official line from Ikigai Cybercore Studios is that you choose whichever role you want. The live constraint is the team cap, not a hidden class unlock.
Team cap and Bypass Team Limit
Servers hold up to 26 players. Sides are capped so a lobby does not become 24 cats and two sad tasers — or the reverse. When the side you want is full, you wait, you swap, or you spend Bypass Team Limit (79 R$) to join the short team anyway.
That pass is quality of life, not a morph. It does not make you a better pickpocket. It puts you in the round you queued for. If you main cat and cats are full every night, Bypass is more honest than buying a 299 R$ combat pass and then spawning as security by accident. Full ranking of that purchase is on the gamepass list.
What the cat side is for
The cat page covers morph habits, pickpocket, attack-break, the rare Angel roll, the feral transition after a successful exit, and rescue. Win condition inside the shelter is leave. Win condition after that is stay free, cause problems in the city, and open cages for teammates who are still inside.

What the caretaker side is for
The caretaker page covers the security loop: hold a safety zone, stun, Arrest Cat, jail, then hunt ferals who already escaped. Director can grant weapons to vets, which is a lobby modifier, not a personal title. Free tools are taser, Arrest Cat, baton, and shotgun. Shift sprints. Paid rifles and the Surgeon dart are optional.

Angel Cat and paid lobby titles

How to pick a side tonight
- Want to learn the map? Play cat. You will see toilets, doors, and dirt because you have to.
- Want to learn timing? Play caretaker. You will see which exits are actually used.
- Friends already inside as ferals? Play cat and let them break you out, or play caretaker and go hunt them in the city.
- Short team is the one you wanted? Bypass, or wait. Do not grief the full side because the queue was rude.
Neither side is a single-player campaign. A 26-player shelter punishes people who ignore the other team’s count. If there are three caretakers and twenty cats, security needs discipline, not a panic HMG spray. If there are three cats and a fully kitted SWAT squad, cats need toilets and cards, not a hallway duel.
What this hub will not claim
It will not list a best starter character. There isn’t one. It will not treat vet and caretaker as proven separate teams. It will not invent unpublished Premium or El Gato role perks. It will not pretend promo codes unlock morphs — as of September 2026 there are no working codes, which the codes hub tracks.
